Fred the Feller: Out with the old and in with the new!

We are thrilled to feature one of our oldest customers this week: Fred the Feller. Fred is one of the largest and most well-known tree-fellers in the Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Crags area.

Having recently sold his old chipper (which served him well for 7 years), he has just upgraded to a big TOMCAT Model 250 AFE – full spec with a hydraulic lift cylinder and a 65Hp Kirloskar diesel engine. This powerful engine allows the unit to run all day to increase efficiency. The TOMCAT Model 250 AFE is perfect for his larger tree-felling jobs, while his TOMCAT Model 200 AFE is utilized for smaller work. Fred uses his chippers for clearing/rental purposes and also to chip branches when felling large trees to create fewer loads to cart away.

He also invested in a new tipper truck at the end of last year. This is used to cart away chips if customers do not want to reuse them for other purposes. The new truck reduces the number of trips to the landfill and the premises are cleaned up in double time by chipping directly into the truck!

We are really thankful for Fred the Feller’s loyal support over the years and we are confident that this new addition will help to make the workload significantly easier for him and his clients every day.
